Vijaya Nagaram Ghat
Clothes set out to dry on the ground, the steps, the railing which climbs up towards the city. Saris covering the dense dust of the banks. Lungis and shirts floating in the breeze on improvised ropes hung between two poles. Clothes stripped of their owners, emptied out, moulds for the spirits, aired out to vanish malevolent forces and to imbibe the forces of the sun and of the gods again, who, invoked, walk in broad daylight through the ghats.
